Day 1: Welcome to Namibia, Windhoek

Welcome to Namibia! We will pick you up from Hosea Kutako International Airport and transfer to the lodge. Optional: short, drive-through city-tour of Windhoek - capital of Namibia, with main attractions e.g.: Kristus Kerk, Tynten Palace, main street, main historical building and points of interest.

Accommodation: Klein Windhoek Guest House (mid-range guest house located in or near Windhoek)

Day 2: From Windhoek to Namib Desert

Early after breakfast, on the way into the Namib, one of the most amazing and fascinating places on Earth, situated in the scenic region. The Namib is considered to be the world's oldest desert and the „Sea of Sand” is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Traveling through surreal regions: from farm land, African highlands and bush to the rocky desert-land, grassy savanna and finally sandy dunes. We stop at the stunning view-point at the Spreetshoogte Mountain Pass.

 Experiencing thrill of being surrounded by the world of diverse mountains, rock formations and sand. Sheer feast for passionate photographers – capturing the beauty of nature! Good chance of spotting ostriches, various antelopes and zebras. Break for lunch at the small oasis Solitaire. Opportunity to taste famous 'apple pie' served at the local desert bakery. Arrival at the lodge late afternoon, rest and relaxation after the trip.

Day 3: Desert Experience at Sossusvlei and Dead Vlei

Early morning before sunrise, drive to Sossusvlei and Dead Vlei, place of the highest dunes on Earth, set in the midst of the World’s oldest desert. Unique chance for spectacular landscape photography! Optional, climbing the scenic Dune 45 (70 m high), while enjoying incredible desert vistas and ever changing scenery of the Namib. Off-road 4x4 trail takes us to Dead Vlei where ancient, dried-up camelthorn acacias stand amidst the orange dunes creating surreal landscape. Optional, climbing 'Big Daddy' (380 m high) or 'Big Mama' - some of the highest dunes on Earth! Visit to Sossusvlei. After lunch, hike through spectacular rock formations of the Sesriem Canyon. Sunset at Elim Dune.

Day 4: Scenic Desert and Swakopmund

Adventure starts at sunrise: traveling through the Namib-Naukluft Park, admiring dried-up Kuiseb and Gaub river-bed. On route, celebrating crossing of the geographical landmark Tropic of Capricorn! Lunch break in Walvis Bay with short visit to bird sanctuary and the lagoon. Late afternoon arrival at the coastal, town-oasis Swakopmund.
Magnificent and changing landscape of the Namib reaches as far as eye can see. Wildlife and birds of the savannah, grazing antelopes oryx and springbuck, mountain zebras, giraffes and World’s largest „birds that don’t fly”- ostriches.

Day 5: Coastal Adventure

Coastal adventure to scenic Moon Valley! You are invited to the „lunar landscape” and for a discovery of the botanic attraction Welwitchia mirabilis known as the „living fossil”; considered to be one of the oldest and most original plants on Earth, remembering even the times of Christ.
Optional activities:
Adrenaline-packed quadbike ride in the dunes of the Namib. Price per person euro 70.
Sky-diving over the Namib Desert. Euro 185 pp.
Morning: yacht cruise to the flamingos’ and fur seal’s colonies, marine wildlife observation (fresh, Namibian oysters, snack platter and Champagne served on board). Price per person euro 65.
Swakopmund City Tour. FOC
Crystal Gallery. Entrance fee: euro 10 pp.
Visit to Snake Park. Entrance fee: euro 10 pp.

Day 6: Cape Cross and Seal Colony

In the morning, on the coastal, salt-road leading 160 km north to Cape Cross and Cape Fur Seal colony. After observing huge family of these playful, aquatic mammals, we are turning east into the desert, towards Brandberg Massif in scenic Damaraland, one of the most magnificent and majestic places in Namibia... home of desert-dwelling elephants as well as giraffes, ostriches and variety of antelopes!

Accommodation: Brandberg white lady lodge (a mid-range lodge bordering Damaraland without fences)

Day 7: Bushmen Rock Paintings and Damara Tribe

Discover the beauty and mystery of rock engravings at Twyfelfontein, UNESCO World Heritage site. We will admire most interesting engravings, out of over 2000 works, created centuries ago in the rusty-orange rocks by the Bushmen inhabiting these regions. Experience cultural and ethnic meeting with the Damara tribe at the „Living Museum” surrounded by fascinating nature, rock formations and magnificent landscape of Damaraland.

Day 8: Wildlife of Etoshe National Park

Wildlife and Nature Sanctuary: Etosha National Park – treasure of Namibia, considered to be one of the most loved and most visited game parks of Africa! We are welcomed by wild animals, savannah and white sand of the plains. During afternoon game drive, we are admiring variety of magnificent animals: herds of antelopes, giraffes, zebras as well as African elephants, black rhino, lions and hyenas roaming through the bush.
In the evening, relaxing dinner served in the thrilling atmosphere of the wild, while sharing wonderful memories and special sightings. At the flood-lit waterhole, thirsty animals gather for drink of water, while you are invited to watch ever-changing 'theater of nature' till late! Equipped with binoculars and a camera, we will spend next two days game-watching on Etosha's trails, searching for wildlife of savanna.

Day 9: Etoshe National Park- Full Day Game Drive

Full day game drive on trails of Etosha. Almost all African animal species are represented in this huge nature reserve. Inhabiting a vast area of over 22,000 square kilometers, with an estimated number of 250 lions, 300 rhinos, 2500 giraffes, 6 000 zebras and more than 2 000 elephants. Variety of antelope species: Oryx, Kudu, Eland, Wildebeast and Impala. 114 mammal species are found, several are rare and endangered e.g. black rhino (largest number in the world), cheetah and black-faced impala. Etosha's elephants are the largest in Africa. The tallest, measuring over 4m at the shoulder. Etosha with its 60 natural springs and waterholes provide excellent game viewing and fantastic, photographic opportunities! Visitors should approach and depart from waterholes slowly, with as little noise as possible, as not to disturb the game.

Day 10: Return to Windhoek

After breakfast we bid 'farewell' to beautiful Etosha and we are traveling south via tar road to Windhoek, capital of Namibia. Plenty of time to do last shopping for gifts and souvenirs at Okahandja open-air craft market and enough time to take the last photos of scenic African landscape. Your safari ends at the International Airport, while we wish you a safe journey home filled with warm memories of an exotic African land and many happy returns to Namibia with Mentors Africa Safaris!
